Wow， fantastic。 I'm not sure what I expected when I went into this but it's so whimsical and fairytale' esque and I absolutely bulldozed through this book。 It was so easy to read and some things were slightly predictable but at the same time there were many twists and turns that were unexpected。 Jacks however。。。。 man， love of my life he is so toxic and cruel but I can't resist。 Also， I thought it was a stand alone and it's not 😭😭😭 so now I have to wait for the next one？？？ Wow， fantastic。 I'm not sure what I expected when I went into this but it's so whimsical and fairytale' esque and I absolutely bulldozed through this book。 It was so easy to read and some things were slightly predictable but at the same time there were many twists and turns that were unexpected。 Jacks however。。。。 man， love of my life he is so toxic and cruel but I can't resist。 Also， I thought it was a stand alone and it's not 😭😭😭 so now I have to wait for the next one？？？ 。。。more

Did not disappoint！！！！I have loved Stephanie Garber since she created the Caraval series。 I would have never believed she could bring us to the North & make me love it even more。 I can’t wait until Book #2。 September is too far away。 I hope Jacks redeems himself & gets his happily ever after like I’ve always wanted him to！ I love this world & its characters！

It’s a 3。5 because I’m a little confused with the book。 I’ll definitely read the next book but it felt like the second half of the book was very disorganized。 Maybe I could try rereading it because I truly feel like I’m missing some of the story。 I’ll still be reading her other series though！

A 3 or better means I enjoyed a book， so don’t think I hated this。 It was more juvenile than typical YA books， though - definitely felt 13ish。 Interesting plot， and if it had been a bit less childish in writing style I would have enjoyed it a lot more。 Not bad， but not one I’d go out of my way to recommend。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 I think Stephanie Garber might be one of my new favourite authors。 Firstly， I loved the links between this book and the Caraval series; the fact that we got to briefly meet Scarlett and Tella was really cool。 The story was fast-paced and intriguing with each chapter。 The minor plot twists throughout the book were also fun to read。 I’m definitely looking forward to when The Ballad of Never After is released - it will be at the top of my tbr。

Me ha encantado yo no he leído la trilogía principal pero debo decir que me dio curiosidad debido a que esta ha sido una muy buena lectura。Evangeline Fox es una protagonista muy veraz con la cual me encariñe casi inmediato siento que aunque te muestran sus errores nunca dejan de lado su lado bueno y eso me ha hecho apreciarla en toda la lectura。Me gusto jacks y como no se sabe sus verdaderas intenciones y como siempre te tiene en la incertidumbre。

Never expected a YA to pull me out of my reading slump- but what a way to do it。If you are after a stand along- this unfortunately is not one- something that I wasn't aware of at the time- which is a shame as honestly I feel like having this as a stand alone would have been what takes it to five stars for me。But it is good- Evangeline is a lonely recently orphaned， broken hearted young woman who has a wretched step mother and a quiet put upon stepsister， and said step sister is about the marry L Never expected a YA to pull me out of my reading slump- but what a way to do it。If you are after a stand along- this unfortunately is not one- something that I wasn't aware of at the time- which is a shame as honestly I feel like having this as a stand alone would have been what takes it to five stars for me。But it is good- Evangeline is a lonely recently orphaned， broken hearted young woman who has a wretched step mother and a quiet put upon stepsister， and said step sister is about the marry Luc- Evangeline's love。So she finds the Fate Jacks- the Prince of Hearts- to stop the wedding as she believes her love Luc is under some sort of spell via her step family， and in exchange he wants three kisses from her to others。 Her twisted story with Jacks see's her finally visit the North where her beloved mother's fairy stories came from。But is she going to get a happily ever after or is it falling into tragedy？Our main character- though still believing in magic， the goodness of people and fairy tails， is also flawed- we meet her making a deal with this world's version of a god- and she knows it's not going to go well for her Step-sister。But she's desperate， she's lost all those who loved her and this wedding is the final straw， you can understand her actions even if you don't agree with her methods。 She's clearly a person overwhelmed with grief and having only her mother's tales from her homeland of the North to fall back to。 There's a naivety to her thoughts especially with the way she believes in the goodness of others。 The plot after the initial wedding does seemed to have veered off from the original concept- and there's an over arching plot that I kind of feel wasn't truly necessary。 It's well written enough to keep you entertained， though falling back into prophecy tropes was a little boring。 The pacing is fantastic- I read this over the weekend and even with massive breaks in between and managed to finish it in three days。Side characters are fairly bland， apart from Jacks our。。。。male lead？ Antagonist？ Enemy？。。。。we don't get much time with them。 We sort of get some time with the Step-Sister Marisol- she loves to cook， her mother is constantly berating her- but we don't get as much interaction as we should。 Though her being with Evangeline makes sense as Evangeline feels immense guilt towards Marisol for bringing the Fates to the wedding and turning the party into Stone。The so called love of her life Luc that was cause of all this we barely meet until the later half and very briefly， did not say a lot about him and why our main heroine loved him。 The same goes for our second male lead Apollo and oh boy there some plot that happens there。I wish it hadn't ended on a cliff hanger- I don't feel like the story is strong enough to warrant that， but that's not my decision to make- and yes I'm going to buy the second book as I honestly need to know what the Valory Arch is all about- don't ask- it falls into the prophecy part of the plot that I said was very boring。There's a collection of ideas here- more than there really should be- but the for the most part they work together enough that I finished this and enjoyed this book。I just hope the sequel doesn't disappoint。 。。。more
